Sunset in the Valley of High Aspirations

Work in progress: Oil on linen painting, 213x152cm (7′x5′) – 2016

Life. We all have peaks we are trying to climb. Some are reasonable, some are dizzying. Only when we reach our peak, do we realize all of our energy, time and skills went into getting here. Only to find the scariest question: Now what?

We can’t stay here forever. To reach for the stars, we can’t fly. To go back down to the valley, we don’t want to. To find another, higher peak, do we have time and energy?

Right now, none of this matters. We’ll think about it in a minute or two. Now, we’ll just watch the sunset. The first sunset in a long time we can watch without stress. Was it always this beautiful?
